You’re A Nobody? – We, as single people, have time. Enviably we use that extra time to check what everyone else is doing.  Have you ever visited one of those movie star magazine websites like people.com? Or maybe you are a business guy and follow Mark Cubin on twitter.com. Maybe you like cars and follow Audi on Instagram.com. Whatever you are doing, if you stop, and look at the vastness of this world and the people in it, you start to realize how small and insignificant you are in their sight. We see people on social media petitioning stars to follow them, like this, do that, all the while wanting to feel just a little bump of significance by a simple click.

You’re A Nobody

Today I clicked on a link, and through a series of navigation choices I found myself on People.com. As I started to review their content I quickly concluded that I was insignificant in the world’s eyes. No one cared to have my photo on their website, hear my fashion advice, or ask if I thought she should date that guy. I didn’t matter. I hadn’t been on TV, in a movie, sang or written a song of significance. I hadn’t done anything of great public approval or disapproval. My life didn’t matter to them or anyone in those circles.  I was just some guy sitting at a computer in the middle of the country watching others live through the eyes of writer who was stuck covering Blake Lively’s visit to a restaurant in Georgia. They make anything news these days.

We know as Christians that we are significant to an infinite God who knows our finite nature.

Think about that. He knows you down to the hairs on your head, or the lack thereof. So how can you remind yourself daily, that regardless what others believe about you, you hold significant value in the eyes of the creator?

Know His Thoughts

Psalm 139:17 (NIV) tells us his thoughts: “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! Step back and think about that. You don’t have to wonder if God is thinking of you, he is. He just doesn’t think one thought, one time, as they cannot be numbered. What do you think about most? Now take that number and think infinity.

Know His Plan

God does have a plan for you and he knew in advance you would love him (Romans 8:29). It’s a plan where he knows the outcome, which is an awesome one. His plan stands from the beginning of time, and is firm. That gives us an unshakable hope that it’s not accidental, and that God has our significance in time, planned. “But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:11. Remind yourself that even though you don’t see this plan, you are none the less significant to him.

Know His Heart

“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Exodus 34:6. God’s heart is to be gracious to us. I think about this with my children. All I want to do for them, is to be gracious to them and show them consistent graciousness no matter what is happening. The God of the Universe, the one who created the heavens and the earth wants to be gracious to you, showing you his love and faithfulness. Wow!

Remind yourself of these things when you start to think and feel that you are a nobody. Your creator thinks otherwise.
